Lyoto Machida  told MMAjunkie.com Radio today that he would like to fight Rashad Evans for the Interim Light  Heavy Weight Championship while Shogun Rua is side lined from a knee injury he suffered while preparing for his last fight with Machida.  With Shogun possibly out until March the possibility of this fight certainly makes sense.  It is not uncommon for Dana White and the UFC to make interim champions in these types of situations, especially if it makes a fight that fans want to see, but does Machida deserve an immediate title shot?  I believe in this situation he does.  Machida and Evans are the two best healthy and ready to compete Light Heavy Weights in the world right now and I do not believe that Rashad should have to weight 9 months to get his title shot.  Rashad has indicated in recent interviews that he wants an opportunity to avenge the loss that Machida gave him and what better way to do it then in defeating Machida for the interim championship.  For now though we will just have to wait and see what Dana White and match maker Joe Silva want to do.  I will say this though, Machida wants the fight, Evans wants the fight, and the fans want the fight so hopefully the UFC wants this fight.
