UFC 135 Card Takes Shape

A light heavyweight title clash has been confirmed for the September 24 UFC 135 in Denver, Colo.  Current champion, Jon Jones will battle former champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in the night’s main event.

Also confirmed for the card is a heavyweight collision between undefeated Travis Browne and the UK’s Rob Broughton.

Finally, in yet another heavyweight bout, former K-1 and PRIDE star, Mark Hunt will welcome Ben Rothwell back from a knee injury on the card.

All three bouts were verbally confirmed by UFC President Dana White.


Injuries scratch Antwain Britt vs. Danillo Villefort from Strikeforce Challengers 16

Injuries have forced the cancellation of the Antwain Britt (11-5) vs. Danillo Villefort (13-3) bout planned for Strikeforce Challengers 16.

Both middleweights have sustained injuries, although specifics were not disclosed.

The bout was slated for the Showtime-televised main card of the event, which takes place June 24 at ShoWare Center in Kent, Wash.


NAAFS heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic signs with UFC

Undefeated NAAFS heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic is heading to the UFC according to the Ohio-based promotion.  UFC officials have not made a formal announcement.

Miocic, a former NCAA Division I national wrestling qualifier, went 5-0 as an amateur and owns a 6-0 professional record. All of his victories have come via stoppage.

Miocic currently trains with Strong Style Fight Team in Independence, Ohio.
