Extreme Fighting Championship Africa 9 (Johannesburg, South Africa; June 30)

Ruan Potts (3-0) scored a third-round TKO of Norman Wessels (3-1) to capture the EFCA heavyweight title in a fight that made Sherdog’s list of 10 June Tussles Worth Watching.

King of the Cage: Next Generation (Highland, Calif.)

David Gomez (9-3) captured the vacant KOTC welterweight title with a fifth-round TKO of Bellator and ShoXC veteran Brendan Tierney (7-3). Tierney’s corner threw in the towel in the final frame of the contest, but Tierney pleaded for a rematch in the post-fight interview.

July 2
MMA Live 2 (Sudbury, Ontario, Canada)

The event was canceled, with the promoter informing fans who purchased tickets that those tickets are non-refundable, but can be redeemed toward a Freedom Fight event scheduled for Sept. 10.

ProFC: Union Nation Cup Final (Rostov-on-Don, Russia)

Isaev vs. Kusch (white lettering on back of trunks)

Gor Harutunian (8-1-1) earned a unanimous decision over Felipe Enomoto (5-3)…Beslan Isaev (15-5) knocked out Pavel Kusch (11-2) in the first round…Khabib Nurmagomedov (13-0) maintained his unblemished record with a first-round triangle choke submission of Kadzhik Abadzhyan (1-2).

Ultimate Warrior Challenge 16 (Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England)

Thoresen (plain trunks) vs. Nascimento

Phil Defries (7-0) kept his spotless record intact, submitting Stav Economou (11-2-1) via a second-round rear-naked choke…Simeon Thoresen (15-2-1) finished Fabricio Nascimento (22-11) by way of a first-round rear-naked choke submission to claim the UWC welterweight title.
