ProElite Returns in August

The reincarnated ProElite will return to action on August 27 from Blaisdell Arena in Oahu, Hawaii.  The card is expected to be headlined by former UFC heavyweight champ Andrei Arlovski.  T. Jay Thompson, ProElite’s director of operations, confirmed Arlovski’s participation.

Other fighters rumored for the event are former UFC fighters Drew McFedries and Kendall Grove, as well as a heavyweight bout between Mark Ellis and Jake Heun.

Patricio Pitbull Forced Out of Bellator 47 Title Bout with Hand Injury

Patricio “Pitbull” Freire will have to wait a little longer for his chance to dethrone Bellator featherweight kingpin Joe Warren.  An injured hard has forced the Brazilin out of their schedule title bout on July 23 at Bellator 47.

Freire confirmed the injury via his Twitter account.

The title tilt will likely be delayed until the fall as Warren is slated to compete in the promotion’s Season 5 bantamweight tournament.  His fight is slated for September 24 at Bellator 51.

Brazilian Lightweight Thiago Michel Joins Bellator

Bellator Fighting Championships today announced the addition of lightweight striker Thiago Michel Pereira Silva. The Brazilian possesses eight victories, all by way of knockout.

Michel turned pro in 2006 and is a World Kickboxing Champion and WBC Muay Thai Champion. He is expected to compete in the promotion’s Season 6 lightweight tournament.
