Todd Duffee off DREAM 17 card

An undisclosed injury has forced Todd Duffee out of a scheduled heavyweight bout against Nick Gaston at DREAM 17 in Tokyo.

A representative from the promotion confirmed Duffee’s withdrawal and added Gaston has been removed from the card.

Duffee (6-2) last fought on December 31, where he suffered a 19-second knockout loss to Alistair Overeem.


UFC Releases John Howard Following third Straight Loss

Welterweight John Howard (14-7) has been cut from the UFC following a decision loss to Matt Brown at UFC on Versus 4.

Howard compiled a 2-3 in the promotion, but the loss to Brown, coupled with consecutive defeats to Thiago Alves and Jake Ellenberger spelled the end for “Doomsday.”

‘Ultimate Fighter’ Finalist Andre Winner Released from the UFC

British lightweight Andre Winner has been cut from the UFC after suffering his third straight loss.  Winner was defeated by Anthony Njoukani at UFC 132, dropping his Octagon record to 2-3.

Winner appeared “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 9 and made it to the finals before succumbing to teammate Ross Pearson.


Strikeforce Challengers 17 prelims get Lagman vs. Taylor, Cooper vs. Watson

Two new bouts have been added to the preliminary card of next week’s Strikeforce Challengers 17 event.

They include middleweights Ben Lagman (6-1) vs. Louis Taylor (7-2) and lightweights Bill Cooper (1-0) vs. Maka Watson (4-0).

Strikeforce Challengers 17 takes place July 22 at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The night’s main card, including a trilogy headliner between Roger Bowling and Bobby Voelker, airs on Showtime.


Pamplona-Stinson Booked for ‘Fedor vs. Henderson’ Undercard

Brazilian Eduardo Pamplona will try for his eleventh win in a row when he battles Tyler Stinson on July 30.

The welterweight matchup will be part of the untelevised undercard for Strikeforce and M-1 Global’s “Fedor vs. Henderson,” which takes place at Sears Centre in the Chicago suburb of Hoffman Estates, Ill.

Ken Stone vs. Donny Walker added to UFC Fight Night 25 in New Orleans

Bantamweights Ken Stone (9-3) and Donny Walker (15-7) will meet in New Orleans at September’s UFC Fight Night 25 event.

Featuring a welterweight matchup between Jake Shields and Jake Ellenberger, “UFC Fight Night 25: Shields vs. Ellenberger” takes place Sept. 17 at New Orleans’ Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

The evening’s main card airs on Spike TV. Stone vs. Walker is expected to take place on the night’s preliminary portion.
