Contract extensions for Henderson and Condit

Two former WEC champions have signed contract extensions with the UFC.  Former lightweight champion Benson Henderson, who recently rose into title contention with an upset win over Jim Miller, and former welterweight champion Carlos Condit both signed contract extensions with the UFC.

Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

UFC 135 card shuffles

The Manny Gamburyan vs. Diego Nunes bout originally scheduled for UFC 135 was previously cancelled due to injury.   The UFC has confirmed that the replacement bout will be UFC newcomer Eddie Yagin against Junior Assuncao, who is returning to the UFC for the first time since 2007.

A second preliminary bout between bantamweights Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto and Damacio Page has been cancelled after both fighters sustained undisclosed injuries in training.

UFC 135 takes place Sept. 24 at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo.

New MMA promotion headlined by Kikuta vs. Yamamoto

Grabaka, the Japanese MMA gym, is now also a MMA promoter.  The organization has partnered with Deep and will have its first event, called “Grabaka Live! First Cage Attack,” on Oct. 15 in Tokyo.

The main event for the card will feature MMA legend and former Pancrase and ADCC champion Sanae Kikuta against former UFC middleweight challenger Kenichi Yamamoto.

World Kickboxing Champion joins Bellator

After a successful kickboxing career, lightweight sensation Cosmo “Good Boy” Alexandre has signed a long-term promotional agreement with Bellator Fighting Championships.  The 29-year-old striker has over 50 professional kickboxing fights under his belt, along with several of the sport’s most notable championship titles.

Alexandre will make his promotional debut on Oct. 1 at Bellator 52 in Lake Charles, La.
