BAMMA 7 to stream for free on Facebook

Catching on to the trend of streaming fights on the internet, the British Association of Mixed Martial Arts will broadcast their fight card this Saturday for free on Facebook.  A simple click of the “Like” button on their Facebook page gives you access to the fights, which will start at 7:15 p.m. local, 2:15 p.m. EST, and 11:15 a.m. PST.

The card will feature 13 fights, two championship fights, and a main event between Jim Wallhead and Frank Trigg.

B.J. Penn “pretty sure” he will still be fighting at UFC 137

With Carlos Condit replacing Nick Diaz at UFC 137, it has left B.J. Penn without an opponent.  The former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion announced today that Dana White has made an offer that the Hawaiian cannot refuse, and that because of it he is pretty sure he will still be fighting on the card.  It is all just speculation at this point, as there has been no official opponent listed for Penn.

UPDATE – Shortly after this post, it was announced via Twitter that B.J. Penn will take on Nick Diaz at UFC 137.

Lullo will now take on Peralta at UFC Fight Night 25

It was originally going to be Mike Lullo taking on Mackens Semerzier later this September, but due to Semerzier being forced to withdraw from the card, it will now be Lullo against Robert Peralta.  A native of Mexico, Peralta will be making his UFC debut after defeating Hiroyuki Takaya in his last fight in the Strikeforce cage.

UFC Fight Night 25 will take place in New Orleans on Sept. 17.

Nick Catone taken off of UFC 136 card

While training for his fight with Aaron Simpson, Nick Catone tore his Achilles tendon while running sprints.  Due to this injury, Catone has had to withdraw from the fight.  There is no official word yet as to an opponent for Simpson.

UFC 137 televised prelims announced

It was announced today that the fight between Donald Cerrone and Dennis Siver, along with the fight between Bart Palaszewski and Tyson Griffin,  will air on the Spike TV portion of UFC 137.

Middleweight Francis Carmont has inked a UFC deal

The newest Tristar Gym fighter to sign a contract with the UFC is French fighter Francis Carmont.  Carmont holds a professional record of 16-7 and is currently riding a five-fight winning streak, while most recently defeating Jason Day.  The Frenchman is scheduled to fight at UFC 137 and his opponent is currently unknown.
