Dana White briefly announces Davis-Machida, then quickly recants

UFC President Dana White revealed that a light heavyweight matchup between undefeated, rising contender Phil Davis and former champion Lyoto Machida was expected to take place at UFC 140.

White quickly apologized for the announcement, stating that he “jumped the gun” and that Davis was still recovering from knee surgery.  However, White did stop short of saying whether Machida will still compete at the Dec. 10 event, which takes place in Toronto.

Jeff Hougland injured, Mike Easton now faces Byron Bloodworth

Bantamweight Jeff Hougland has suffered an injury during training and has been forced off the UFC Live 6 fight card.

In his place will be promotional newcomer Byron Bloodworth.  Bloodworth will face fellow debutant Mike Easton on the event’s undercard.

UFC Live 6 takes place Oct. 1 from the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., and is headlined by a bantamweight title fight between champion Dominick Cruz and challenger Demetrious Johnson.

McDonald to face Eduardo at UFC 139

A pair of 135-pounders will grace the UFC 139 card in San Jose, Calif., on Nov. 19.

Young slugger Michael McDonald will take on Brazilian Johnny Eduardo on the preliminary card of the event.

UFC 139 takes place from the HP Pavilion and will be headlined by a light heavyweight fight between Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Dan Henderson.
