Melendez vs. Masvidal is Confirmed

It looks like despite Dana White’s announcement that he wanted to move current Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez to the UFC as soon as possible, Melendez will need to wait a little longer.  Strikeforce announced a press conference set for Thursday to announce Melendez will defend his title against Jorge Masvidal at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego on Dec. 17.

Joining the main event fighters at the press conference will be women’s featherweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos, lightweight KJ Noons and Scott Coker.

The press conference takes place on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 1 p.m. at the Players Lounge inside the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego.
