Georges St-Pierre out of UFC 137 due to injury; Penn vs. Diaz new main event

Georges St-Pierre has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled title defense against Carlos Condit later this month at UFC 137 due to a knee injury.  St-Pierre suffered the injury, which will keep him out of action for at least a month, during training.  Due to this, the fight between B.J. Penn and Nick Diaz has been moved to the main event.  There is no time table set for St-Pierre’s return.

Bellator 54 ratings rebound; 185,000 MTV2 viewers produce 80 percent increase

After Bellator 53 received the worst ratings in the promotion’s history, Bellator 54 rebounded with an increase of 80 percent.  Even though they showed significant improvement, Bellator 54 still does not rank in the top 10 all-time for Bellator events.

Legacy Fighting signs champ Daniel Pineda and Freddy Assuncao to multi-fight deals

The Texas-based promotion Legacy Fighting Championship today announced that they have signed featherweight and lightweight champion Daniel Pineda and new up-and-comer Freddy Assuncao to multi-fight deals.  Specific terms of these contracts were not disclosed.

Shamar Bailey vs. Danny Castillo is 12th addition to UFC 139 fight card

The UFC announced overnight that Shamar Bailey vs. Danny Castillo will be the final addition to UFC 139.  Bailey and Castillo will compete on the preliminary card.  UFC 139 will be headlined by Dan Henderson taking on Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
