On Friday, Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren and challenger Jay Hieron hit their marks at the weigh-ins for their title fight at Bellator 56. The fight will headline an event that also includes the semifinals of a heavyweight tournament. Bellator 56 will be held at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan., on Saturday night.
After going nearly a decade without visiting Brazil, the UFC is now set to visit the country twice in a six-month period. On Friday, MMA Junkie reported that the UFC has booked a return to HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The venue will play host to UFC 142 on Jan. 14, 2012. No fights are currently booked for the event, but stay tuned to The MMA Corner for the latest on this event.
