Fedor May Face Aoki at “Dream: New Year! 2011”

Fighting organization Dream has announced Pride legend Fedor Emelianenko and Japanese superstar Shinya Aoki as tentative additions for the “DREAM: Fight for Japan. How are you! New Year! 2011″ fight card. Each fighter has familiarity with fighting on the end of the year fight card, Fedor starring five times and Aoki four times.

The event takes place Dec. 31 at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. The event will air on HDNet. However, it hasn’t been decided if it will air live or via delay. The event will not be limited solely to MMA fights, and will also feature K-1, kickboxing, pro-wrestling and other competitions as part of a stacked lineup.

Emelianenko just logged a win over Jeff Monson at an M-1 Global card in response to his three consecutive losses to Dan Henderson, Antonio Silva and Fabricio Werdum. Japanese judoka Satoshi Ishii appears to be the leading candidate for Emelianenko’s opponent.

The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil to Host Tryouts in Brazil

The UFC has upped the ante in its international presence. Brazilian middleweight and lightweight prospects have been invited to compete for a place on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil. The open tryouts are to be held Dec. 14 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Fighters must be between the ages of 21 and 35 and have at least three professional fights, two of which must be victories.

The show will air in the U.S. on Fuel TV, however the UFC is still looking for a stateside partner. “As technology continues to grow, we have so much more distribution than we used to have, but we will figure it out so everybody can watch,” said UFC President Dana White.

Pyle Slated to Face Thiago at UFC 142

Mike Pyle will once again stroll into another fighter’s neighborhood when he faces Paulo Thiago at UFC 142, which is in Paulo’s native Brazil. Recently, Pyle faced John Hathaway in his home country of England, and proceeded to win by unanimous decision in one of Pyle’s most impressive showings in his MMA career.

Thiago will be making his return to his home country and looking to build off his recent win over David Mitchell, which came on the heels of a two-fight losing streak after consecutive losses to Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann.

Grove v. Minowa Rumors for ProElite 3

Although not officially announced, sources close to former UFC middleweight Kendall Grove and Ikuhisa Minowa have stated that the two fighters may face each other at ProElite 3 on Jan. 21 in Honolulu.
