“Rampage” gets his wish, fights Ryan Bader in Japan

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson wanted to fight in Japan, and UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta today revealed that Jackson will get his wish.  The former UFC light heavyweight champion will meet Ryan Bader at UFC 144 on Feb. 26.  The event takes place at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

Two featherweight match-ups added to UFC 142

UFC president Dana White today announced that two featherweight pairings have been verbally agreed to for UFC 142.  The Jan. 14 Brazil-based event adds a clash between Yuri Alcantara and Michihiro Omigawa, as well as a bout between Felipe Arantes and Antonio Carvalho.

Kamal Shalorus fights Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC FX 1

After suffering the first loss of his career in his last outing, Kamal Shalorus will try to put the first blemish on another fighter’s record when he returns to the Octagon at UFC’s first event on FX.  The lightweight will meet 16-0 Russian prospect Khabib Nurmagomedov, UFC president Dana White announced today.

UFC FX 1 takes place Jan. 20 in Nashville, Tenn.

Brent Schermerhorn and Kaleo Gambill clash at ProElite 3

ProElite continues to add to its next card with the addition of a bout between Brent Schermerhorn and Kaleo Gambill.  Schermerhorn is 4-1 with all four victories coming via stoppage, while Gambill was victorious in his lone professional fight.

ProElite 3 is expected to take place on Jan. 21 in Honolulu and the main card is expected to air on HDNet.

Shinya Aoki’s New Year’s Eve opponent revealed

Shinya Aoki will defend his Dream lightweight title on New Year’s Eve, and his challenger will be former Sengoku lightweight kingpin Satoru Kitaoka.  The two 155-pounders have verbally agreed to meet at Dream’s end-of-year mega-event.  The title bout is currently rumored as the main event for the card.

Steve Cantwell to face Riki Fukuda at UFC 144

Middleweights Steve Cantwell and Riki Fukuda have verbally agreed to a Feb. 25 bout at UFC 144, which takes place at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Fukuda will make his return to the Octagon after a lengthy layoff following a knee injury sustained in a car accident.

Thiago Alves vs. Martin Kampmann targeted for UFC event on March 3

Martin Kampmann is fresh off a win over Rick Story at UFC 139 and he already has another foe lined up.  Kampmann will meet fellow welterweight Thiago Alves at a March 3 UFC event.  The event has been rumored to be a UFC on Fox show, but no details are available at this time.

Bubba Jenkins to face brother of original opponent

NCAA Div. I wrestling champion Bubba Jenkins was to face Jason Williams at Tachi Palace Fights 11 on Dec. 2, but now he will instead meet Jason’s brother, Josh.  The change comes after Jason was forced to withdraw from the bout due to a work conflict.  The lightweight fight takes place on the undercard of the event.

Tachi Palace Fights 11 takes place in Lemoore, Calif.

Daniel Weichel injured, won’t defend title in December

Recently crowned M-1 lightweight champion Daniel Weichel will not make an expected title defense on Dec. 9.  Weichel suffered a fracture in his hand while winning the title from Jose Figueroa last weekend.  Weichel was expected to defend the belt at M-1 Challenge 30 in Costa Mesa, Calif.  The card will still feature one title clash, as welterweight champion Shamil Zavurov will put his belt on the line against Rashid Magomedov.
