Genair da Silva joins Bellator season-six featherweight tourney lineup

Bellator “Summer Series” tournament participant Genair da Silva has added his name to the bracket for the promotion’s upcoming season-six 145-pound tournament.  Sources close to the fighter today confirmed da Silva’s addition to the bracket.  The featherweight lost his opening round match-up against Marlon Sandro in the Summer Series tourney.  He becomes the sixth revealed participant in the upcoming tournament, joining Sandro, Alexandre Bezerra, Ronnie Mann, Wagnney Fabiano and Daniel Straus.

Bellator’s sixth season kicks off in March and airs live on MTV2.

Jeremy Spoon brings Bellator season-six featherweight tourney roster to seven

Joining da Silva as a new addition to the 145-pound Bellator season-six bracket is Jeremy Spoon.  Bellator officials today confirmed his addition to the tourney lineup.  Spoon enters the tournament with a perfect 12-0 record, including two wins under the Bellator banner.

…and Roberto Vargas makes it eight

With Genair da Silva and Jeremy Spoon today confirmed for Bellator’s season-six featherweight tournament, only one spot remained.  But that didn’t last for long, as Roberto Vargas joined the eight-man field, completing the lineup.  Vargas has posted six wins since losing to Wilson Reis in his last Bellator appearance.

Two welterweight match-ups added to UFC 143

UFC 143 has added even more welterweights to its lineup.  The card, which already features an interim welterweight title bout between Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit as well as a match-up between Josh Koscheck and Mike Pierce, now adds two more 170-pound clashes.  Former TUF competitors Matt Brown and Chris Cope will look to get back into the win column when they square off, while Justin Edwards and Mike Stumpf will seek to rebound from recent defeats when they meet at the event.

UFC 143 takes place Feb. 4 in Las Vegas.  Both fights are expected to be a part of the preliminary card, which will air live on FX.

Corey Hill and Marianna Kheyfets added to XFC 16

Former TUF competitor Corey Hill and female prospect Marianna Kheyfets are notable additions to XFC’s upcoming February event.  The promotion revealed a partial lineup for its card today.  The card will feature former WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner against a to be determined opponent, but today’s additions included Hill, who will lock horns with Bellator veteran Nicolae Cury, and Kheyfets, who still awaits word on her scheduled opponent.  Other additions include a battle between middleweights Josh Samman and Mike Gomez, as well as the addition of Brandon Sayles to the card.  Sayles does not yet have an opponent.

XFC 16 takes place in Knoxville, Tenn., on Feb. 10 and the main card airs live on HDNet.

James Te Huna slated to face Aaron Rosa at UFC on Fx 2

James Te Huna will enjoy a home turf advantage in his next UFC outing.  The Aussie will meet fellow light heavyweight Aaron Rosa when the UFC returns to Australia on March 3 for UFC on FX 2.  The bout is expected to take place on the event’s undercard, which will air live on Fuel TV.
