Ken Stone out of UFC on FX1 main-card bout due to injury

Ken Stone has been forced out of his fight with Mike Easton on UFC on FX 1 due to an undisclosed injury.  This announcement comes just a day after it was announced that Stone would face Easton.  A search for Stone’s replacement is underway, but at this moment no possible replacements have been named.  UFC on FX 1 takes place on Jan. 20 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.

Sadollah out, Riddle in at UFC 143

Just days after being forced out of his fight at UFC 141 due to illness, Matt Riddle steps up to replace an injured Amir Sadollah at UFC 143 to face Jorge Lopez.  Sadollah, who is coming off of a loss to Duane Ludwig, was looking to work his way back up the ranks before an undisclosed injury forced him off the card. Now with Sadollah out, Riddle steps in to take his place.

UFC 141 “UFC Prelims” ratings: Final Spike TV special earns 1.8 million viewers

The UFC and Spike TV have officially ended their partnership, but not before they turned in the second highest rated prelim broadcast ever.  UFC 141 was the final time that fight fans will be able to see the UFC on Spike and they gave it a fond farewell, turning in 1.8 million viewers.  The highest rated prelim event on Spike TV came from UFC 126 in February of 2011.

Mark Hominick returns at UFC 145

Mark “The Machine” Hominick is looking to rebound as quickly as possible from his UFC 140 loss to the “Korean Zombie.” He will get his chance at UFC 145.  Today the UFC announced that Hominick will face Eddie Yagen.  UFC 145 is scheduled for March 24 in Montreal.

Bocek vs. Wiman added to UFC 145 line-up

UFC 145 is beginning to shape out nicely as UFC officials continued to announce fights for the card.  In addition to announcing Hominick vs. Yagen, they also announced that Matt Wiman will face Mark Bocek.  It is not clear whether or not this bout will be on the televised portion of the event.

UFC 141 medical suspensions: Lesnar, Diaz, Matyushenko, Gamburyan out six months

Today, the Nevada State Athletic Commission released the medical suspensions that they handed out after UFC 141 last Friday and Brock Lesnar, Nate Diaz, Vladimir Matyushenko and Manny Gamburyan all received six-month suspensions.  Each fighter can have the suspension lifted early by their specific doctors.

War Machine, Carlos Alexandre Pereira join Bellator’s season-six welterweight tourney

Bellator today announced the first participants to their season-six welterweight tournament.  The first participant, Carlos Alexandre Pereira, is 33-9-1 in his mixed martial arts career.  The second contestant is War Machine, who is 12-4 is his mixed martial arts career.  Many of you may remember War Machine from his time on The Ultimate Fighter 6 where he competed under the name John Koppenhaver.
