Mike Kyle meets Gegard Mousasi at ‘Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey’

Light-heavyweights Mike Kyle and Gegard Mousasi will lock horns at “Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey.”

The fight will be the co-main event of the event.

“Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey” takes place March 3 from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.  It will coincide with the annual Arnold Sports Festival.   The Kyle-Mousasi bout will be shown on the Showtime-broadcast main card.

Ryan Couture vs. Conor Heun Added to March Strikeforce Event

A lightweight fight between Ryan Couture and Conor Heun has also been added to the March 3 event.

Both fighters have verbally agreed to the bout.

Headlining the event will be a women’s bantamweight title fight between champion Miesha Tate and the unbeaten Ronda Rousey.

Georgi Karakhanyan set to defend Tachi Palace belt against Micah Miller

Featherweight champion Georgi Karakhanyan will take on recent Ultimate Fighter 14 participant Micah Miller at “TPF 12: Second Coming.”

The event takes place March 9 at Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif.

The card is expected to stream online.

Junior Assuncao Released from the UFC

Featherweight Junior Assuncao has been released from the UFC after falling to TUF alum Ross Pearson at UFC 141.

Assuncao tweeted that the promotion did not like his last bout.

This is the second time the Brazilian has been cut from the promotion.  The fighter was also cut loose following a 1-2 stint at lightweight in 2007.
