ProElite 3: Grove vs. Minowa (Honolulu; Jan. 21)

In a fight that made Sherdog’s 10 January Tussles Worth Watching, No. 9-ranked 135-pound female fighter and Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann (5-0) earned a unanimous decision over No. 5-ranked 135-pounder and Strikeforce veteran Hitomi Akano (18-9)…TUF 3 winner and UFC veteran Kendall Grove (14-9) took home a unanimous nod over Pride and Dream vet Ikuhisa Minowa (52-33-8) in the evening’s headliner…Bellator veteran Richard Odoms (7-0) advanced to the ProElite heavyweight grand prix finals with a second-round neck crank submission of Jake Heun (2-2)…On the other side of the bracket, Ryan Martinez (7-1) advanced with a unanimous decision over Cody Griffin (5-3).

Jan. 20
Hard Knocks Fighting Championship: School of Hard Knocks 19 (Calgary, Alberta, Canada)

Advin Omic (10-3) submitted Paapa Inkumsah (4-4) via rear-naked choke in the first round.

World Championship Full Contact: Last Man Standing II (Orem, Utah)

TUF 11 alum Kyacey Uscola (23-22) needed only 21 seconds to score a TKO of Scott Pike (0-8) in the first round of a one-night eight-man welterweight tournament. He went on to defeat Mike Arrant (8-9) by way of unanimous decision in the semifinals before losing via split decision to Benjamin Smith (3-0) in the tournament championship. Smith defeated TUF 5 alum Brandon Melendez (26-23) by way of split decision in the opening round of the tournament and Kirt Patterson (3-3) via unanimous decision in the semifinals…D.J. Linderman (11-2) defeated fellow Bellator veteran Ty Lee (8-2) in the opening round of a one-night eight-man heavyweight tournament, but was unable to continue in the tourney…UFC and IFL veteran Fabiano Scherner (9-9) defeated Andenilson Clementino (1-2) via first-round TKO in the heavyweight tournament’s opening round and advanced to the finals with Linderman unable to continue. There he lost via TKO in just 36 seconds against Bellator vet Tyler East (12-3). East had advanced to the finals with an opening round unanimous decision victory over Rodgigo Artiheiro (0-1) and a bye in the second round when his opponent was unable to continue in the tournament.

Jan. 21
Jackson’s MMA Series 7 (Albuquerque, N.M.)

Strikeforce veteran Michelle Waterson (9-3) secured a rear-naked choke in the first round to submit No. 8-ranked 106-pound female fighter Diana Rael (3-2) in a fight that made Sherdog’s 10 January Tussles Worth Watching.

Jungle Fight 36 (Rocinha, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

Orgulho (black trunks) vs. Sordi

In a fight that made Sherdog’s 10 January Tussles Worth Watching, Junior dos Santos training partner Kleber Orgulho (9-3) scored a first-round TKO of Emiliano Sordi (3-3).

K-Oz Entertainment: Bragging Rights (Perth, Western Australia, Australia)

Palelei (short black trunks) vs. Miller

UFC veteran Soa Palelei (14-3) scored a first-round TKO of Pride and Sengoku vet Henry Miller (6-15).

King of the Cage: Total Destruction (Thackerville, Okla.)

In a bout for the KOTC lightweight title, Tim Means (16-3-1) needed just 30 seconds to score a TKO of Tye Brown (7-3)…Dom O’Grady (13-4-1) captured the KOTC welterweight crown with a split decision victory over the champion, Bellator veteran Bill Albrecht (21-13).

Xplode Fight Series: Brutal Conduct (Valley Center, Calif.)

Farber (white trunks) vs. McCullough

WEC veteran Danny Martinez (15-4) scored a first-round TKO of Nick Boyd (0-1)…UFC veteran Brodie Farber (15-6) secured a rear-naked choke to submit Travis McCullough (19-33) in the first round.

Jan. 22
Pure MMA: The Beginning (Plains, Pa.)

Chris Davis (7-0) locked in a triangle choke in the second round to submit UFC veteran Johnny Rees (12-5)…UFC and Bellator veteran Dave Branch (10-2) earned a unanimous decision over Strikeforce vet Dominique Steele (5-2).

Rings: Battle Genesis Vol. 9 (Tokyo)

In a fight that made Sherdog’s 10 January Tussles Worth Watching, Sengoku veteran Shunichi Shimizu (22-7-10) locked in a triangle choke in the third round to submit Alan Yoshihiro Yamaniwa (5-1-1)…UFC veteran Naoyuki Kotani (25-10-7) scored a second-round TKO of Daisuke Hanazawa (19-15-5)…Atsushi Ueda (12-4-5) submitted Shinichi Taira (2-5-4) via triangle choke in the third round.
