McKee Overweight, Stripped of MFC LW Title

Lightweight Antonio McKee has been stripped of the Maximum Fighting Championship 155-pound title after coming in seven pounds overweight at the MFC 32 weigh-ins.

McKee will still face Brian Cobb in the co-main event, but it will now be a three-round non-title affair. An MFC official revealed that McKee will be released by the promotion following the fight.

The event takes place Friday, Jan. 27 from the Mayfield Inn Trade and Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Bellator Fighting Championships applies for Nevada promoter’s license

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has revealed that the Bellator promotion has applied for a promoter’s license in the state

The state is the home base of the sport’s largest promotion, the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The NSAC will address Bellator’s application at their monthly meeting, which takes place Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Grant Sawyer State Office Building in Las Vegas.

Bellator’s sixth season kicks off March 9 event in Hammond, Ind. The company is hosting season-six tourneys in the bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight, welterweight and middleweight divisions.
