The UFC today conducted weigh-ins for Saturday evening’s UFC 143 pay-per-view event. All fighters made weight for their scheduled bouts, including headliners Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit, who will vie for the UFC interim welterweight championship.

Olson makes bantamweight debut at Tachi Palace Fights 12

Tachi Palace Fights has added another fight for its March 9 event. Strikeforce veteran Casey Olson will make his bantamweight debut against Cody Gibson at Tachi Palace Fights 12. The event takes place at the promotion’s home venue of the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif.

Olson joins the 135-pound ranks after a 6-1 run as a featherweight. Gibson will look to rebound from a December loss to Ulysses Gomez in a failed bid for the then-vacant Tachi bantamweight crown.

’Jacare’ returns to action at Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey

Strikeforce’s former middleweight champion, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, is set to fight for the first time since losing his belt to Luke Rockhold this past September. He’ll step into the cage on March 3 at Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey against undefeated prospect Derek Brunson.

Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey takes place in Columbus, Ohio, and coincides with the annual Arnold Sports Festival. The main card will air on Showtime, while the preliminary card airs on Showtime Extreme. It is not yet known on which portion of the card Souza’s fight will be featured.

Gaudinot welcomes Lineker to the Octagon at UFC on Fox 3

The UFC is wasting little time in getting the flyweight division in full swing. The promotion today announced the addition of a 125-pound battle to its May 5 event. TUF 14 alum Louis Gaudinot will return to the flyweight division and meets UFC newcomer John Lineker.

Lineker is riding a 13-fight winning streak after opening his career at just 6-5. Gaudinot and Lineker will meet on the preliminary card of UFC on Fox 3, which takes place in East Rutherford, N.J. The prelims are expected to air on Fuel TV.

Independent lab to conduct drug-testing for UFC 144

The UFC has retained an independent laboratory to screen fighters for performance-enhancing drugs and drugs of abuse at UFC 144 in Japan. The event’s headliners, Frankie Edgar and Benson Henderson, will be tested, as will six to eight randomly selected competitors from the event.

Bellator returns to Mohegan Sun with welterweight tourney quarterfinals, War Machine out of bracket

Bellator today announced that it will return to the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on March 30 for Bellator 63.  The Friday night event will feature the promotion’s season-six welterweight tournament quarterfinal round.  The quarterfinal match-ups will see Karl Amoussou face Chris Lozano, UFC veterans Ben Saunders and Brian Foster clash, Raul Amaya battle David Rickels and Bryan Baker lock horns with Carlos Alexandre Pereira.

Lozano steps in to fight Amoussou after original tournament participant War Machine was forced out of the bracket.  The troubled War Machine is headed back to prison, reportedly due to his part in an incident that occurred over a year ago.
