Evans vs. Jones official for UFC 145

Rashad Evans has been waiting a long time to get his hands on Jon Jones and another shot at the UFC light heavyweight title.  The former champion doesn’t have to wait much longer as he will be able to do both at the same time.  The UFC has officially announced that the matchup will take place on April 21 at UFC 145 in Atlanta.

Cholish will meet Castillo at UFC on Fox 3

The third UFC on Fox card is starting to fill out nicely as the UFC announced that Danny Castillo will take on John Cholish at the event.  Both fighters are coming off of recent victories as Castillo beat Anthony Njokuani by split decision at UFC 141 while Cholish landed a TKO victory against Mitch Clarke at UFC 140.

UFC on Fox 3 will take place on May 5 in East Rutherford, N.J.

New featherweight fight set for UFC on Fuel TV 2

Jason Young and Akira Corassani will square off against one another in a featherweight tilt when the UFC heads to Sweden.  Young will look to get his first UFC victory after losing his first two fights by decision to Dustin Poirier and Michihiro Omigawa.  Corassani is coming off of The Ultimate Fighter where he made it to the semifinals but came up short.  This fight will mark his first official fight with the promotion.

UFC on Fuel TV 2 will take place on April 14 in Stockholm, Sweden.

M-1 Challenge 31 “Monson vs. Oleinik” moved to Russia

While it had originally been planed to take place in the United States, M-1 moved their upcoming March 16 fight card to St. Petersburg, Russia.  The promotion held four events in the United States in 2011 and it was expected that it would host more events in 2012.  The main event at M-1 Challenge 31 will have UFC veteran Jeff Monson squaring off against Bellator veteran Alexey Oleinik in a heavyweight bout.

1.4 million viewers tune into UFC 143 prelims

FX hosted four of the UFC 143 preliminary fights for the second time last Saturday and drew 1.4 million viewers.  The first time the channel hosted preliminary fights was at UFC 142 and had 880,000 viewers on that night.  Last Saturday proved a significant increase of viewers as the numbers showed a 59% increase.
