Invicta Fighting Championships, an all-female MMA promotion led by former Strikeforce executive Shannon Knapp, is set to holds its first event on April 28 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan. The card will be headlined by a clash between former Strikeforce 135-pound women’s champion Marloes Coenen. Coenen will fight top-10 ranked 145-pound fighter Romy Ruyssen in a rematch of a 2008 bout in which Coenen handed Ruyssen the only loss of her career. The fight will be contested in the 145-pound division.
Knapp, the co-owner and vice president of the promotion, also revealed that Invicta Fighting Championships plans to stage at least three events in 2012, with fights spanning five weight classes.
