Guida and Maynard tapped to headline June 22 UFC on FX event The UFC’s second trip to the state of New Jersey in as many months now has a main event as lightweights Clay Guida and Gray Maynard collide on June 22 in Atlantic City. Verbal agreements are in place for the bout, which is expected to be a five-round affair. Both fighters are coming off losses; Guida to current champion Benson Henderson and Maynard to former champ Frankie Edgar. Former middleweight champion Rich Franklin will return to the 185-pound division to take on former Strikeforce kingpin Cung Le. Also in the middleweight division, Michael Bisping will look to bounce back from his loss to Chael Sonnen as he battles rejuvenated Tim Boetsch. Finally, rising bantamweight contender Renan Barao locks horns with Jeff Houghland. UFC 148 takes place July 7 in Las Vegas and will be headlined by a bantamweight title bout between champion Dominick Cruz and challenger Urijah Faber. Filling out the Spike.com streamed portion of the card will be Sonny Luque vs. Luis Vega, Douglas Frey vs. Rad Martinez, Cosmo Alexander vs. Oscar de la Parra, Joseph Daily vs. Sean Spencer, Steven Peterson vs. Chris Jones and Dave Jansen vs. Jacob Kirwan. The event takes place from the Laredo Energy Arena is Laredo, Texas, and is headlined by a heavyweight tournament final rematch between Eric Prindle and Thiago Santos.
