Jason MacDonald Wants to Hang Up Gloves for Good at UFC 149

Canada’s own Jason MacDonald is hoping to fight at UFC 149 in Calgary, a part of a string of events to be held north of the border. MacDonald stated in a recent interview that after that event he wants to hang up his gloves.

However, MacDonald first has to make it through a May 15 bout against Tom Lawlor uninjured to have an opportunity to fight in his hometown. That fight will take place in Virginia at UFC on Fuel TV 3.

At the UFC’s press conference in Canada, MacDonald expressed his feelings regarding his future.

“I got a tough fight coming in May, but I really hope to be a part of the show (in Calgary),” said MacDonald. He later went on to say, “It’ll be a storybook ending for me. I’ll hopefully retire from the UFC in the Calgary show. For me the show is really special.”
