Six-fight main card at UFC 145

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced that rather than a traditional five-fight main card at UFC 145, there will instead be six fights.  The latest addition to the main card is a bantamweight matchup between former WEC champion Miguel Torres versus former Tachi Palace champion Michael McDonald.

The 21-year-old McDonald holds a professional record of 14-1 and is a perfect 4-0 in his Zuffa career.  Torres will be fighting for the first time after his return to the UFC after being released from the promotion after an inappropriate tweet. Torres was victorious in his last fight as he beat Nick Pace at UFC 139.

UFC 145 will take place on April 21 in Atlanta.

Two fights added to UFC on FX 4

The fourth installment of UFC on FX is starting to round out well as two new fights have been added to the card.  Featherweights Ross Pearson and Cub Swanson will fight and TUF finalist Ramsey Nijem will take on promotional newcomer C.J. Keith.

Pearson won the ninth season of TUF as a lightweight, but this fight will be his second fight as a featherweight.  Swanson lost in his UFC debut, but recovered nicely with a TKO victory over George Roop in his second promotional fight.

Nijem recovered from being knocked out in his TUF finale fight against Tony Ferguson by taking a decision victory from Danny Downes, while C.J. Keith will be stepping into the Octagon for the first time.  Keith has compiled a perfect 9-0 record while fighting on the regional scene.

UFC on FX 4 will take place in Atlantic City, N.J. on June 22.

Vieira set to debut at UFC 147

Pride veteran Milton Vieira is set to make his promotional debut at UFC 147.  While he may not exactly be a household name in the mouth of MMA fans, Vieira is acknowledged as the guy who invented the anaconda choke.  Knowing this, it should be no surprise to hear that he also holds a second degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.  However, the knock against the Brazilian is that he has struggled against solid competition.

The man standing across from Vieira will be Felipe Arantes who holds a UFC record of 1-1.  Arantes lost by unanimous decision at UFC 134 but bounced back nice by winning a unanimous decision at UFC 142.

UFC 147 will take place on June 23 and take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in a soccer stadium.

Lauzon vs. Etim at UFC on Fox 4

Lightweights Joe Lauzon and Terry Etim have verbally agreed to square off with one another at UFC on Fox 4.  Both fighters are victims of head kick knockouts in their last fight, Lauzon’s by the foot of Anthony Pettis at UFC 144, Etim’s by the foot of Edson Barboza at UFC 142.

One thing that stands out between these two particular fighters is the amount of bonus checks that have been cut for them.  Lauzon has won submission of the night three times and fight of the night four times, while Etim has four submission of the night performances, along with one fight of the night.

Nurmagomedov vs. Tibau at UFC 148

UFC 148 is scheduled to host the bantamweight championship fight between Urijah Faber and Dominick Cruz, however it will also host a lightweight fight between Gleison Tibau and Khabib Nurmagomedov.  Tibau is currently on a three-fight winning streak while Nurmagomedov won in his UFC debut last fight making his record a perfect 17-0.
