Alistair Overeem has reason for failed drug test, says manager

Alistair Overeem’s manager Glenn Robinson tells Inside MMA’s Ron Kruck that contrary to reports of “The Demolition Man” having been flagged for a positive drug test–complete with a 14:1 testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio–the truth about Overeem’s flagged positive test is that it was the T/E ratio was “off”. What caused the ratio to be “off” is unknown and doubts remain as to how Overeem’s T/E could have been “off” as opposed to the prior reports of the levels being “elevated”, especially since Overeem denied the opportunity to test the “B” sample.

UFC on Fox 3 to have content share with Mayweather-Cotto card

UFC on Fox 3 takes place on May 5 with a headliner of Nate Diaz vs. Jim Miller, and the event will mark the second time in which Fox has televised a UFC fight card on the same night as a major Boxing event, with last year’s “teaser” card leading in to the long-awaited trilogy between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez. This year, the Fox card leads into Floyd “Money” Mayweather’s marquee meeting with Miguel Cotto, also on May 5. Despite sharing a date with Mayweather-Cotto, UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertita says that it’s not something the promotion minds doing.

“That’s kind of Fox’s deal,” he recently said. “They like that fact that we’re going to go on at the same night, but the window is different. Meaning, we’ll be done before Floyd fights Cotto. The last time that that happened, we peaked at over 9.9 or whatever million viewers. The theory is that people are home. It’s a great fight night; you’re going to watch Pacquiao or whatever; you can turn on Fox, you can watch our fight; you’ll have a great night.”

UFC inks Tim Elliot to replace Darren Uyenoyama against John Dodson

John Dodson will have the opportunity to improve on the strength of his TUF 14 Finale win over TJ Dillashaw at UFC on Fox 3, but an injury to Darren “BC” Uyenoyama has paved the way for Dodson to meet 8-2-1 prospect Tim Elliot in East Rutherford on May 5. Since a 0-2-1 start in his career, the Resurrection Fighting Alliance alum has posted a recent 8-0 run, including recent wins over Jens Pulver and Josh Rave.

UFC 144 drug tests produce a clean sweep

UFC lightweight titleholder Benson Henderson and his predecessor Frankie Edgar were two of the eight men to have been tested at UFC 144, and as is the case for any UFC event held in a location without its own regulatory body, the process was overseen by former head of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Marc Ratner. All eight competitors were tested for marijuana, cocaine, and any form of an anabolic steroid, but all tests came back negative. The six men tested along with headliners Edgar and Henderson were not disclosed.
