In the Cage – 4.20.12 Josh Davis April 20, 2012 News Each day, The MMA Corner will provide a recap of results, event announcements, fight matchups, and injuries/cancellations from throughout the world of MMA. Alistair Overeem out, Frank Mir in at UFC 146 Dana White announced late Friday night that Alistair Overeem has been pulled from the main event of UFC 146 and Frank Mir will now step in to face Junior dos Santos for the heavyweight title. Overeem earned his shot at the champion in December when he defeated Brock Lesnar, but recently failed a drug test due to elevated levels of testosterone. Mir, who was slated to face former champion Cain Velasquez, will now get another shot at UFC gold. Mir is riding a three-fight winning streak and has won eight of his last ten fights. At this point it is uncertain if Velasquez will get a replacement opponent or be pulled from the card all together.
