Bahadurzada replaces Akiyama, meets Alves at UFC 149

Thiago Alves has a new opponent for his UFC 149 welterweight bout as Yoshihiro Akiyama has been forced out due to injury.

Stepping in for the Japanese fighter will be Siyar Bahadurzada, who scored a vicious 42-second KO of Paulo Thiago in his promotional debut in April.

UFC 149 takes place at the Scotiabank Saddledome on July 21in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The event is headlined by a featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo and Erik Koch.

Attonito out, Abedi in against Story

Former Ultimate Fighter combatant Rich Attonito has been forced out of his June 22 fight with Rick Story due to injury.

In Attonito’s place will be Sweden’s Papy Abedi.

UFC on FX 4 takes place in Atlantic City, N.J. and is headlined by a lightweight bout between Clay Guida and Gray Maynard.

Full Bellator 69 lineup revealed

The full card for the upcoming  Bellator 69 on May 18 has been announced. In addition to a battle between top-ranked 115-pound Megumi Fujii and Jessica Aguilar, the card will feature the season-six middleweight tournament final between Maiquel Falcao and Andreas Spang, as well a welterweight semifinal featuring David Rickels vs. Karl Amoussou.

The event takes place from the  L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles, La. The main card will air on both MTV2 and Epix HD, while the preliminary card will stream on Spike.com.

New York MMA bill dies (again)

Once again the bill to legalize MMA in the state of New York will not see a vote in the State Assembly.

As in previous years, the bill passed through the State Senate prior to dying in the Assembly.

Hayes meets Linderman at Cage Warriors 47

Cage Warriors 47 will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between champion Mike Hayes and D.J. Linderman.

The two met previous in 2009 under the Alliance Fights banner, with Linderman taking a unanimous decision victory.

The event takes place June 2 at The Helix in Dublin. The main card streams live on MMAjunkie.com.

UFC on Fox 3 ratings

The ratings are in for the UFC’s third installment on Fox. The event, which took place at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J., featured a lightweight bout between Nate Diaz and Jim Miller.

The average audience was 2.4 million viewers for the broadcast, a significant drop from the promotion’s first two events on the network, which each had more than 4.5 million viewers.

Additionally, the preliminary bouts on Fuel TV drew an average audience of just 86,000 viewers, the first time the ratings have dipped below 100,000 viewers.

The Ultimate Fighter: Live ratings

The ninth episode of The Ultimate Fighter: Live drew an average of 954,000 viewers to FX.

The reality show has fluctuated around one million viewers since peaking at 1.3 million during the season debut.
