Urijah Faber will fight for interim title at UFC 148

With Dominick Cruz out, Urijah Faber will still be getting his fight for the belt at UFC 148.

A opponent for Faber has yet to be determined, but UFC president Dana White told “UFC Tonight” that Faber will still fight for the belt. Also no word on how Cruz’s injury will affect the rest of the The Ultimate Fighter: Live season.

UFC 148 takes place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on July 7. The card is headlined by a showdown of rivals Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen.

Ronda Rousey to defend her belt for the first time against Sarah Kaufman in August

Ronda Rousey gets to defend her new belt for the first time since beating Miesha Tate in March against Sarah Kaufman who has been waiting for this title shot.

The fight is expected to go down in August with no confirmation yet on the date or venue.

UFC on Fox 4 adds two heavyweight fights; Mitrione vs. Broughton, Thompson vs. De Fries

Matt Mitrione’s first fight after his loss to Cheick Kongo at UFC 137 will come in August against Rob Broughton at UFC on Fox 4.

Mitrione lost to Kongo by unanimous decision last October in what was his first loss. Broughton himself is on a two-fight losing streak dropping two decisions to Philip De Fries and Travis Browne.

Speaking of De Fries, he will be making his return after a knockout loss to Stipe Miocic at UFC on Fuel 1 in February. De Fries will be facing strongman, Oli Thompson who is also coming off of a loss. Thompson was TKO’d by Shawn Jordan at UFC on FX 2 in March.

UFC on Fox 4 airs from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Aug. 4.

Dana White announces Benson Henderson vs. Frankie Edgar II for UFC 150

After ideas that the title rematch would take place at UFC 150, Dana White confirmed the fight for the historic card on Tuesday on “UFC Tonight”.

Henderson and Edgar fought at UFC 144 with Henderson taking the decision, and ultimately the UFC lightweight strap, from Edgar.

UFC 150 takes place on Aug. 11 airing from the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Undefeated Olympic alternate, Shanon Slack, will fight at Bellator 69 against Booker Arthur

Former U.S. wrestling Olympic alternate, Shanon Slack has signed with Bellator to fight at Bellator 69. Slack is 3-0 so far in his young MMA career and will meet 2-1, Booker Arthur.

Aldo vs. Koch and “Shogun” vs. Silva set for UFC 149 in Calgary

Jose Aldo will defend his belt for the fourth time in the UFC against Erik Koch on July 21 as confirmed at the UFC 149 press conference.

Koch is 23-years-old and is currently on a four-fight win streak that includes two knockouts (both earned “Knockout of the Night” honors) and a submission victory.

Aldo is coming off a knockout over Chad Mendes at UFC 142 that he followed up with a celebration with his Brazilian brothers and sisters in the stands.

“Shogun” Rua will make his return to the cage for the first time following his “Fight of the Year” with Dan Henderson. This time he will face another Brazilian who is also coming off of a loss, Thiago Silva.

UFC vet Chris Lytle loses Republican nomination for the Indiana State Senate

Chris Lytle fought last August for the last time in his MMA career. Lytle then quickly followed that up with another fight but this time in a different field, the Indiana State Senate Republican nomination.

Lytle came up short though to be the Republican on the ticket for District 28 in Indiana though. Lytle finished second among three candidates garnering 30 percent of the votes, getting beat by 1,929 votes.

Bellator 67 viewership up 51 percent from Bellator 66

Michael Chandler yet again beats Eddie Alvarez but this time he beat him viewership. Bellator 67 with Chandler versus Akihiro Gono as the main event averaged 165,000 viewers on MTV 2 which is up from the 109,000 who watched Alvarez batter Shinya Aoki at Bellator 66.

Bellator 67 now ranks fourth among the eight cards so far in season six of Bellator
