Until now, four-time All-American wrestler Lance Palmer’s transition to mixed martial arts has involved opponents with sub-.500 records. However, that will change come June 30.

The MMA Corner has learned that Factory X Muay Thai product Nick Macias has signed a three-fight contract with Resurrection Fighting Alliance and will provide Palmer with his stiffest test to date when the two square off in featherweight action on the June 30 RFA 3 card. The promotion today confirmed the match-up via Twitter.

Macias dropped a unanimous decision to UFC and WEC veteran Tyler Toner at Ring of Fire 42 in December 2011. The loss halted a four-fight winning streak for Macias and brought the Colorado native’s record to 5-2.

Palmer has been training with Urijah Faber’s Team Alpha Male camp following a successful NCAA Division I wrestling career that garnered him four-time All-American honors while at Ohio State. In the 24-year-old’s last outing on the Feb. 24 Showdown Fights card, Palmer secured an arm-triangle choke on opponent Jordan Chandler for the second-round submission victory. Resurrection Fighting Alliance announced in April that Palmer had signed a three-fight deal with the organization.

Resurrection Fighting Alliance’s third event will take place at the Viaero Event Center in Kearney, Neb. The venue also hosted the promotion’s first two shows, featuring a number of UFC veterans including Jens Pulver, Houston Alexander and Gilbert Yvel. The third event from the Nebraska-based promotion will feature a headlining bout in the lightweight division, as UFC veteran Joe “Daddy” Stevenson takes on Dakota Cochrane, who appear on The Ultimate Fighter in March but was not able to advance into the TUF house.
