Fedor Retires

After knocking out Pedro Rizzo on Thursday under the M-1 Global banner, Fedor Emelianenko announced his retirement.

“I think it is time I quit,” Emelianenko said.

Emelianenko retires with an MMA record of 34-4.

Rogers Makes Weight for Bellator Debut

Brett Rogers made weight for his Bellator debut tomorrow night against Kevin Asplund at Bellator 71.

The rest of the main card made weight, with Chris Davis and Travis Wiuff headlining. Bellator 71′s main card kicks off on MTV2 at 8 p.m. eastern.

Fedor KO’s Rizzo

MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko knocked out Pedro Rizzo in the first round of the M-1 Global event.

The win puts Emelianenko on a three-fight winning streak, and it’s his first knockout victory since he knocked out Brett Rogers at a Strikeforce/M-1 Global event in 2009.

UFC 153 Likely Slated for Brazil

The UFC will likely return to Rio de Janiero in October for UFC 153.

The UFC’s managing director of international development, Marshall Zelaznik, revealed the news at the UFC 147 press conference held in Brazil today.

“I would anticipate championship fights coming regularly and often to Brazil,” Zelaznik said. “We have big plans in the new year. We have another event coming this year, so you can expect to see a lot more from the UFC in Brazil.”
