Friere vs. Curran to be held at Harrah’s Tunica on August 24

In a press release obtained by The MMA Corner, Harrah’s Tunica Hotel and Casino will hold the August 24 Bellator featherweight title fight between Patricio “Pitbull” Friere versus Pat Curran. The card will happen in Tunica Resorts, Miss.

The event will take place on MTV 2 and will also have the finals for the “Summer Series” light heavyweight tournament and the conclusion to the season six bantamweight tournament.

Tickets go on sale June 29 and will range from $25 to $100.

Jose Aldo targeting return in October

Jose Aldo’s manager, Andre Pederneiras, recently told MMAFighting that the injury to Aldo’s left leg will not require surgery. Now, Pederneiras says that the current UFC featherweight champion is targeting a return in October.

Aldo was set to face Erik Koch at UFC 149 in Calgary before an injury during training forced him off the card. When he returns he will fight Koch as Koch has decided to wait for the Brazilian champ to heal. Aldo is currently undergoing physical therapy to rehab the leg.

UFC confirms second season of “TUF: Brazil”

With the ratings of the first season of “TUF: Brazil” ending really well and on the horizon of UFC 147, UFC executive, Marshall Zelaznik, confirmed a second season of the first “Ultimate Fighter” series outside of the United States.

“We do anticipate another season,” Zelaznik today told MMA Junkie. “It’s certain that we’ll do it.”

On top of the announcement of a second season, Zelaznik also said that Brazil will be one of at least five international TUF shows in 2013.
