In less than two weeks, the biggest sporting event of the summer, according to Chael Sonnen, will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen II.

In their first meeting, the world saw one of the most bizarre outcomes as middleweight champion Silva was beaten to a pulp for five consecutive rounds. It appeared as if Silva’s unbeaten streak in the UFC would finally come to an end. But, that wasn’t the case at all. At around the two-minute mark in the fifth and final round, Silva found himself on his back with signs of desperation coming from every angle of his body.

Then, out of nowhere, Silva connected on arguably the greatest comeback man has ever seen. A triangle armbar sealed the deal and allowed Silva’s UFC winning streak to extend to 12. From that very moment, Silva knew it was just a matter of time until he met Sonnen again.

And now, the time has come.

However, this time is different. Silva’s give-a-damn is busted after 23 consecutives months of verbal abuse from Sonnen. And, this time, Silva has made a few promises.

“People who live in the past, and things that are in the past, are in museums,” said Silva on the UFC 148 media call where The MMA Corner was present. “There’s no more talking, and I know he’s on the line listening. He will never want to fight in the UFC again.”

“There isn’t going to be a difference (this fight). He’s going to step out as the loser. The only difference is that he’s going to see a plastic surgeon after the fight,” said Silva.

Never before have we seen Silva speak so brutally towards an opponent. Even following his come-from-behind victory over Sonnen, we saw the champion drop to his knees in respect towards his defeated adversary.

Silva’s actions seemed to fit the part after he spent the majority of the night on his back and on the receiving end of Sonnen’s vicious ground-and-pound. However, this time around, Silva tells us it won’t matter what position he’s placed in.

“It doesn’t matter if I’m on the bottom, side or top. Chael is going to get his ass kicked like never before. I’m going to make sure that all his teeth are broken and all of his arms are broken,” Silva promised. “What I’m going to do inside of the Octagon will change the image of the sport.”

It appears as if Silva has had enough of Sonnen’s words. Many believe Silva’s harsh comments are a direct result of Sonnen’s use of performance-enhancing drugs leading up to their first meeting. While Sonnen served his time, Silva still isn’t satisfied.

“Chael is a criminal. He doesn’t deserve to be inside of the Octagon,” stated Silva. “I’m going to break his face and every one of his teeth.”

UFC 148 and Silva vs. Sonnen II will be aired on pay-per-view television on Saturday, July 7, beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET.

    Chael injects testosterone.
Its fraud that he’s allowed to fight the champ.
He’s also a loser. His remarks about Silva’s family deserve severe sanctions… assuming you overlook his steroid abuse…which they are.

Silva used Ali’s rope a dope to tire shady Chael. He submitted him as he said he would. He should have snapped his arm Rousey style…nadless Chad deserved no less. As for the win, did you never see r Gracie in 1990. Endure and then win. That’s juijistu. Its not a fluke, its an art.

Chadly sonnen gives this country a bad name. I hoped he is severely disabled and damaged by Silva.

Sonnen hasn’t lost since his fight with Silva, so the testosterone argument is no longer valid. Injection or not, Sonnen is the No. 2 middleweight in the world and arguably the best fight-seller known to mankind.

“Sonnen hasn’t lost since his fight with Silva, so the testosterone argument is no longer valid” …

I don’t agree at all. take NASCAR as an example, if sonnen runs nitros oxide in all the qualifying sessions (and still qualifies only 2nd)… and then it’s discovered that’s he’s been on the juice.. he certainly would not be allowed to race in the main event.

I guess a better analogy would be superbike racing, where Ducati’s are allowed substantially more displacement so that they can be competitive with the japanese bikes. they are saying “sonnen, we understand that the body you were born with is not sufficient to to allow you to compete at the championship level. so, we’ll allow you to take additional testoterone up to the level that these true champions have naturally.” to me, that’s just cheating.

as for sonnen beign ‘the best fight seller’… he’s just the most reviled . he’s the loud mouthed steroid freak bully and everyone wants to see his skull cracked.
Silva showed mercy to the guy. he could’ve broken his arm easily but he didn’t.

Silva has been a great example to people everywhere. he’s a positive light hearted person. and he’s a true martial artist. he knows the art and uses it to defeat opponents in a professional manner. he’s not a bloodthirsty gladiator who wants to kill his opponent. when they are defeated, he stops. this is mastery of the art. when lesser people try to provoke him, he remains calm and unaffected. this is mastery of the art. but now sonnen has threatened his wife and the mother of his children. if you think about what he said, it’s unforgiveable.

Personally, I would prefer to see Silva meet sonnen on the street rather than in the Octagon. sonnen deserves to be hospitalized.

of course, this plays to sonnen’s advantage. he’s a brawler, blind power punching steroid tank. if he can infuriate an opponent and make them fight his kind of fight, he has a chance of winning. I hope Silva does not fall into that trap. He’ll need to fight is own fight, wear down sonnen’s steroid induced strength… and then… we’ll see whether or not he’s able to show mercy to this scumbag again.

Well, “spider fan”, we’ll have to agree to disagree. The whole “mercy” comment is ridiculous. He gave Sonnen mercy? Give me a break.
