Kawajiri close to signing with ONE FC

Veteran Japanese fighter Tatsuya Kawajiri is on the verge of signing with the upstart ONE FC promotion.

“Crusher” is the latest combatant from the now-defunct DREAM promotion who appears to be heading to the young Asian promotion, following the likes of Shinya Aoki and Bibiano Fernandes.

Kawajiri is a veteran of Strikeforce, Pride, Shooto and DREAM. He recently dropped to featherweight, where he has yet to taste defeat.

Glory purchases rival It’s Showtime

Glory Sports International has purchased It’s Showtime. The deal will put the fighters under the It’s Showtime banner now under the GLORY World Series umbrella. GLORY will take over other assets owned by It’s Showtime.

Dutch-based It’s Showtime has been holding shows since 1999. Last year the promotion held 14 events, largely replacing K-1 as the premiere kickboxing organization.

Now with GLORY’s purchase of its rival, it possesses the majority of the top talent in the sport.
