Jon Jones’ DWI Sentencing Pushed Back Again

Jon Jones asked for more time to complete an alcohol abuse and dependency evaluation. He was granted an extension and now his sentencing for his DWI charge will be pushed back to July 31.

The UFC Light Heavyweight champion was originally arrested on May 19 in Binghampton, N.Y. Jones would then enter a plea deal and plead guilty to DWI charges. This marks the second time Jones’ sentencing has been pushed back.

UFC hits China in November

The UFC will host its first-ever event in China on Nov. 10, 2012.

Macau’s Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel’s CotaiArena will be the venue for the event. The arena can hold 15,000 spectators.

No other details have been revealed for the event, but a ticket on sale date and fight card are expected to be announced soon.

Ben Saunders vs. Brian Warren Added to Bellator 72

Killa B” Ben Saunders will welcome Brian Warren to the Bellator promotion at Bellator 72. The bout will be fought at a catchweight of 178 pounds.

Saunders is coming off a loss to Bryan Baker while Warren has won seven of his last eight bouts. Bellator 72 takes place in the USF Sun Dome on July 20 in Tampa, Fla. The event is set to feature a number of tournament bouts including the welterweight finals and also features Paul Daley along with Marius Zaromskis.

Cage Warriors Announces New Contract with Jim Alers

Florida-based prospect Jim Alers has signed a five-fight deal with Cage Warriors. Alers holds a professional record of 8-1 including a win over European top 10 ranked fighter, Matteus Lahdesmaki.

Alers had fought for Cage Warriors prior and clearly earned the interest of CEO Graham Boylan.

We’re always looking to sign the best guys around to exclusive contracts and Jim showed in Bahrain that he definitely falls into that category,” Boylan said.

Jorgen Kruth vs. Fabio Maldonado Added to UFC On Fuel TV 5

Swedish Muay Thai specialist Jorgen Kruth will make his official UFC debut when he squares off against Fabio Maldonado on the UFC on Fuel TV 5 event in England.

Kruth doesn’t have a lot of MMA experience but holds a 71-14 record as a pro kickboxer. Maldonado has lost back-to-back fights against Kyle Kingsbury and Igor Pokrajac.

UFC on Fuel TV 5 takes place on Sept. 29 at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England.

UFC 149 Experiences Yet Another Injury Setback

Claude Patrick is the latest fighter to suffer the sting of the injury bug. The Canadian fighter has been forced out of his UFC 149 bout and will be replaced by a former opponent in Brian Ebersole.

Ebersole is coming off a tough decision against T.J. Waldburger and will now face James Head in a welterweight fight.

UFC 149 is set to take place on July 21 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It will be the UFC’s first event in Calgary and will feature an interim bantamweight title bout between Urijah Faber and Renan Barao.
