Josh Koscheck has officially been ruled out of his scheduled contest against Jake Ellenberger at UFC 151. A bulging disc in his back is said to be the specific injury in question.
UFC 151 takes place on Sept. 1 in Las Vegas and is scheduled to be feature a title clash between Jon Jones and Dan Henderson. No new opponent for Ellenberger has been named.
Despite an exciting card featuring some of the top lightweights in the world and future title challenger Lyoto Machida, the UFC on Fox 4 main card’s rating didn’t impress. The two hour main show did roughly around the same number as the UFC on Fox 3 event.
However, the UFC on Fox 4 prelims did excellent numbers, almost outdrawing some main cards of other shows. The prelims averaged nearly 200,000 viewers with a reported number of 194,000 viewers.
The weigh-ins for Strikeforce’s “Rousey vs. Kaufman” event will take place next Friday night, Aug. 17. The festivities will be held in the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego and will begin at 6 p.m. ET. It will be free and open for all MMA fans.
The card will also feature former Strikeforce champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, top prospect Tarec Saffediene, and former women’s champion Miesha Tate.
The UFC on FX 5 main card is finally set in stone. That is unless the dreaded injury bug hits another UFC event. The card will be headlined by a heavyweight showdown between undefeated Travis Browne and BJJ black belt Antonio Silva.
Also on the card will be John Dodson as well as the rumored rematch between Phil Davis and Wagner Prado. The event will take place on Oct. 5 at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
