Pat Curran out of Bellator 73 Bout vs. Patricio Freire

The newly crowned Bellator featherweight champion Pat Curran will have to wait a little longer to make a successful title defense. A sparring injury has forced Curran out of his scheduled bout with Patricio Freire at Bellator 73.

Reports indicate Curran suffered from a broken orbital bone while sparring with a boxer. Jeff Curran, Pat’s cousin, estimated it would be roughly three months before the champ would be able to defend his belt.

UFC 150 Prelims Draw 974,000 Viewers

The preliminary bouts for UFC 150 drew 974,000 while broadcasting on FX. The number represents a slight decline from the prelim numbers for UFC 149.

The UFC 150 prelim bouts saw Chico Camus, Erik Perez, Michael Kuiper, and Dennis Bermudez picking up victories.

Ed Soares Named President of Resurrection Fighting Alliance

Ed Soares, manager for numerous top talents like Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida has been named as President for Resurrection Fighting Alliance. Soares will continue to manage fighters and will not relieve any of those duties.

The Nebraska-based promotion has only had three events in its brief existence but has signed a number of top talents like Jens Pulver, Gilbert Yvel, Joe Stevenson, Tyson Griffin, as well as blue-chip prospect Bubba Jenkins.

Tachi Palace Fighting: 14 “Validation” set to Feature Two Title Bouts

Tachi Palace Fighting: 14 which is named “Validation” will feature two title bouts. In the main event Casey Olson will take on Ian Loveland for the bantamweight championship while Georgi Karakhanyan will face Micah Miller for the featherweight title.

Resurrection Fighting Alliance Signs John Gunderson

Former UFC fighter John Gunderson has signed a three-fight deal with Resurrection Fighting Alliance. Gunderson’s last appearance saw the fighter lose via submission to David Castillo earlier this month.

Gunderson is expected to make his RFA debut on a card in Oct.
