Strikeforce middleweight title shot up for grabs for Souza

Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza lost his middleweight title to Luke Rockhold and now Souza may be one step away from reclaiming the belt he lost.

“Luke Rockhold, our champion, has made it very clear he’d like to fight Jacare,” Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker told MMA Junkie following Thursday’s pre-event press conference. “Last time, he won the fight, but he didn’t do it in the style and the manner he wanted to do it. This is a tough fight for Jacare, and if he can get through Brunson, that’s a fight we would probably would like to make happen.”

Souza was on a four-fight win streak up until his fight in September 2011 with Rockhold. Souza lost the fight by unanimous decision.
