Frankie Edgar dropping down to featherweight, aiming for December return The former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will make a move to 145 pounds the next time he steps inside the Octagon. On Fuel TV’s weekly UFC Tonight show, Ariel Helwani reported the breaking news to fans tuning in. Edgar is not expected to get an immediate title shot against featherweight champion Jose Aldo just yet, but is hoping for a fight this winter against a top contender. Source: UFC Tonight UFC on Fox 5 Location Announced Another big announcement came out on Tuesday’s UFC Tonight program The Key Arena in Seattle will host UFC on Fox 5, which takes place on Dec. 8. UFC on Fox 5 was announced weeks ago, but no location was determined. A lightweight title fight between Ben Henderson and Nate Diaz will headline the card in Seattle. The UFC announced that Martin Kampmann will take on Johny Hendricks in the co-main event of UFC 154 in Montreal. UFC 154 takes place on Nov. 17 from the Bell Centre in Montreal. Canada’s own Georges St-Pierre is expected to headline the event as he takes on Carlos Condit for the welterweight championship. Former WEC bantamweight champion announced on his website Tuesday that he has been released by the UFC after a loss to Michael McDonald, and will make his debut in Titan FC on Nov. 2 in Hammond, Ind. No opponent has been determined for Torres thus far. According to sources, DeBlass vs. Fukuda will be a part of the Facebook card for UFC on Fuel TV, but no official announcement has been made. UFC on Fuel TV 6 takes place on Nov. 10 from the CotaiArena in Macau, China. The event will be headlined by Rich Franklin taking on Cung Le. Also, Strikeforce confirmed Caros Fodor vs. Josh Thomson and Quinn Mulhern vs. Jorge Santiago are now official for the event. ‘Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Healy’ will take place on Sept. 29 from Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento, Calif.
