Sara McMann Signs with Strikeforce

Undefeated Olympic medalist Sara McMann has signed a multi-fight deal with Strikeforce. McMann sports a 6-0 professional MMA record but has years of experience outside the cage. McMann won a silver medal for Olympic freestyle wrestling in 2004 and has earned five medals between competitions in FILA World Wrestling Championships and Pan American games.

The blue chip prospect last fought at Invicta FC 2 event where she won a very entertaining fight against Shayna Baszler. McMann could debut as early as Nov. 3 for Strikeforce and is expected to challenge Ronda Rousey with a win or two.

Jon Jones speaks out about How He’s Handled the Post-UFC 151 Storm

In a 41 minute interview with Ariel Helwani, UFC Light Heavyweight champion gave some insight as to what lead to his decision to refuse a fight with Chael Sonnen. Jones also opened up about what Dana White said and the rumor he asked White to tell Sonnen to calm down the trash talking.

Luke Rockhold Set to Defend Middleweight Title against Lorenz Larkin

Luke Rockhold will not be facing Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in a rematch for his next title defense. Instead, Lorenz Larkin will get the title shot. The bout is expected to be the co-headliner along with Frank Mir vs. Daniel Cormier.

Rockhold has defended his title on two occasions after defeating “Jacare” last year. Larkin has yet to taste defeat and is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Robbie Lawler. The event is slated to take place on Nov. 3 from Oklahoma City.

Former MMA Fighter/Instructor Fatally Stabbed

Wyatt Lewis, a Brazilian jiu jitsu brown belt MMA instructor who has competed in promotions like MFC, Rumble In The Cage has been fatally stabbed in an incident on Saturday evening. The Calgary Herald has the full details:

“Police were called to the 1000 block of 16th Avenue N.W. around 3 a.m. Saturday and found two men with stab wounds. Both were taken to hospital but one was declared dead on arrival.

Wall said he talked to one of the two other people Lewis was with when the incident happened.

He’s been told one guy was hit over the head with a bottle and knocked unconscious. Lewis stepped in to help but was fatally stabbed.”
