Ivan Menjivar vs. Azamat Gashimov set to meet at UFC 154

Canadian bantamweight, Ivan Menjivar is heading home to meet Azamat Gashimov at UFC 154 in Montreal.

Menjivar is coming off of a loss to Mike Easton at UFC 148 in July and had won his first three fights in his return to the UFC. Menjivar will now welcome newcomer, Gashimov.

Gashimov was originally slated to make his UFC debut against Alex Soto at UFC on Fuel 3, but the Russian born, U.S. based fighter will now fight for the first time in the last 16 months. Gashimov amassed a 7-1 record outside of the UFC. Only one of his wins has been by decision.

UFC 154 takes place on Nov. 17 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

John Makdessi vs. Sam Stout added to UFC 154 in Montreal

A battle of Canadians will also take place in Montreal now that John Makdessi and Sam Stout have been added to the UFC 154 card.

Stout is coming off of a decision victory in his trilogy fight with Spencer Fisher. Stout is now 3-2 in his last five fights winning either “Fight of the Night” or “Submission of the Night” in three of those fights.

Makdessi is currently on a two-fight losing streak after starting his career 9-0 with two UFC wins. Makdessi has suffered back-to-back losses to Dennis Hallman and Anthony Njokuani. Makdessi missed weight in his last fight against Njokuani at UFC 145 in April.

“TUF: Australia vs. U.K.” coaches, George Sotiropoulos and Ross Pearson to meet on Dec. 15

The date for the first matchup of “TUF: Australia vs. U.K.” coaches has been set as George Sotiropoulos and Ross Pearson will meet on Dec. 15 on the UFC on FX 6 card.

Both coaches are former “Ultimate Fighter” contestants with Sotiropoulos being a part of the season six cast and Pearson appearing in season nine. Pearson won his season nine tournament.

Sotiropoulos has lost his last two-fights, losing by decision to Dennis Siver and getting knocked out in the first round by Rafael dos Anjos. Sotiropoulos hasn’t fought since his knockout loss to dos Anjos last year at UFC 132. Sotiropoulos previously had not lost in his stint in the UFC and was on a eight-fight win streak before losing to Siver.

Pearson dropped to featherweight for his last fight and was knocked out by Cub Swanson in his debut. Pearson now returns to lightweight and is 2-3 in his last five fights.

UFC on FX 6 is expected to take place in Australia with no venue yet named on Dec. 15. The card also contains the recently announced Rousimar Palhares vs. Hector Lombard middleweight fight.
