Bellator heavyweight champion Cole Konrad retires from MMA

Undefeated Bellator heavyweight champion Cole Konrad is retiring from mixed martial arts effective immediately. The former NCAA Division-I national wrestling champion won Bellator’s inaugural heavyweight tournament and most recently fought in March, when he won against Eric Prindle.

Konrad will reportedly take a job as a financial trader specializing in milk products with a Minnesota-based company.

Minotauro Nogueira vs. Dave Herman Announced for UFC 153

In the wake of Jose Aldo and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson withdrawing from their scheduled UFC 153 fights due to injury, MMA heavyweight legend Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira will meet Dave Herman in a replacement bout on the event’s main card.

Nogueira most recently fought in Dec. 2011 when he was submitted by Frank Mir, while Herman is looking to bounce back after consecutive losses to Stefan Struve and Roy Nelson.

UFC Expected to Debut The Ultimate Fighter: India in 2013

After already capturing international audiences with TUF: Brazil and The Ultimate Fighter: Australia vs. UK, the UFC announced Tuesday that it will launch The Ultimate Fighter: India in 2013. The UFC is hopeful that the series will help make in-roads into a country with a population of 1.2 billion.

The Ultimate Fighter: India will broadcast on India’s SONY SIX network.


Cathal Pendred meets Bruno Carvalho at Cage Warriors 49

Two of the CWFC’s top welterweights will square off as part of the Cage Warriors 49 main card on Oct. 27. Bruno Carvalho makes his CWFC debut in Cardiff, Wales after winning nine of his last ten fights. In Pendred, he faces a welterweight who has yet to be defeated in the CWFC.

The winner of this fight will put himself in great position for a title shot against current CWFC welterweight champion Gael Grimaud.
