Jens Pulver, Masakatsu Ueda Added to ONE FC 6 Bantamweight Grand Prix

A pair of former champions will be competing in the ONE FC 6 Bantamweight Grand Prix on Oct. 6. Jens Pulver and Masakatsu Ueda have been added to the tournament and will fight Yanfei Zhao and Min Jung Song respectively.

Pulver was the first UFC Lightweight champion and has competed against some of the best fighters in the world during his career. Ueda saw a five-fight winning streak come to an end after being bounced from Bellator’s Season Six Bantamweight Tournament by Travis Marx.

Former Strikeforce Fighter Joe Cason Heads to Professional Football

Joe Cason, who sports an 8-1 record in MMA will be heading back to his football roots. The former Strikeforce fighter has signed a contract with the Ultimate Indoor Football League’s Missouri Monsters. Cason played linebacker while attending the University of Northern Iowa.

Cason was last seen inside the cage last July when he was stopped by Ovince St. Preux.

Maximum Fighting Championship Announces New Procedures

It’s no secret that the Maximum Fighting Championship has had issues with fighters making weight. The issue caused the MFC to completely dissolve their lightweight division recently and now the promotion has announced a new procedure for title fights where a fighter makes weight.

The new rules play out a number of scenarios but most of them either involve the champion vacating or automatically keeping the belt depending on if it’s champion or challenger who fails to make weight. The MFC also has the call to change it to a three round fight if a challenger fails to make weight.

Bobby Green vs. Jorge Masvidal Expected to Take Place at Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir

Bobby Green may finally get his chance to receive some national recognition in the Strikeforce lightweight division. Reports are indicating that a potential bout between Green and Jorge Masvidal has been agreed on by one party with Strikeforce expecting to close the deal soon.

Green is 4-1 during his tenure with Strikeforce and sports a 19-5 record overall in MMA. Masvidal is 3-1 in his last four bouts with the only loss coming to lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez. The Nov. 3 card is expected to feature a heavyweight clash between Daniel Cormier and Frank Mir along with a middleweight title fight between Luke Rockhold and Lorenz Larkin.

Cage Warriors Announces CW: 49 Preliminary Bouts

Cage Warriors has released the preliminary bouts for its Cage Warriors 49 event. Among the participants are local favorites Kris Edwards, Daniel Thomas, Dino Gambatesa, and Martin McDonough. Rosi Sexton, Bruno Carvalho, and Cathal Pendred are among the fighters currently listed to compete on the main card.

CW: 49 takes place on Oct. 27 from the St. Davids Hall in Cardiff and will be the promotion’s debut in Wales.
