Replacement being secured for Cormier

Earlier this week it was announced that former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir pulled out of his fight against Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix champion Daniel Cormier with a knee injury.

Cormier’s status as far as whether or not he would stay on the fight card was up in the air, but it has been announced that he will indeed stay on the card as the promotion is currently in search of a new opponent for him.

Two new fights for Nov. 3 Strikeforce Card

Fresh off of his decision loss to Luke Rockhold, Tim Kennedy is set to return to action.  The former No. 1 contender will take on Trevor Smith.  “Hot Sauce” holds a professional record of 10-2 and has gone 2-1 with his time with Strikeforce.

Also on the card will be Sara McMann taking on Liz Carmouche.  McMann recently disposed of Shayna Baszler at Invicta FC 2, while Carmouche took down Kaitlin Young on the very same card.

Both fights will take place on Strikeforce’s Nov. 3 card.

Beerbohm and Spong sign with WSOF

The World Series of Fighting’s fighter roster got bigger today with the announcement of two additions to the promotion.  Former Strikeforce fighter Lyle Beerbohm signed with the promotion as well as kickboxer Tyrone Spong.

Beerbohm holds a professional record of 19-2 and is currently on a four-fight winning streak after two hiccups with Strikeforce.  Spong was originally set to make his MMA debut with Titan Fighting Championship, but has signed with WSOF.

It is unknown as to whether or not Beerbohm will take part in the inaugural event on Nov. 3, but it has been announced that Spong will fight at the event.
