Clay Guida to drop to 145 pounds with first fight expected in early 2013

After back-to-back losses at lightweight, Clay Guida has decided to drop from lightweight to featherweight according to VFD Sports Marketing.

Guida was last seen in a fight heavily criticized by most of the MMA community against Gray Maynard this past June. Guida lost the fight by split decision and was his second consecutive loss. Guida lost in November of 2011 to current UFC lightweight champion, Benson Henderson, in what was a really entertaining back-and-forth fight between the two on UFC on Fox 1.

Guida’s is looking to make his debut at featherweight some time in early 2013. Guida is the second top lightweight to drop to featherweight following former UFC lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar.
