With Chael Sonnen being selected to face Jon Jones on April 27, his UFC155 foe, Forrest Griffin, was left without an opponent.
Today the UFC announced that Phil Davis, fresh off a dominant UFC 153 submission of Wagner Prado, would step in to face the former light heavyweight champion.
UFC 155 takes place on Dec. 29 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The pay-per-view event will be headlined by a heavyweight championship rematch between current champion Junior dos Santos and former champ Cain Velasquez. Davis-Griffin is expected to serve as the co-main event.
The full card for Bellator’s Oct. 26 event in Dayton, Ohio has been revealed. The Nutter Center on the campus of Wright State University hosts the 10-fight event. The four-fight main card airs live on MTV2 at 8 p.m. ET, and a six-fight preliminary card streams on Spike.com beginning at 6 p.m. ET.

Former Pride champion and Strikeforce veteran Kazuo Misaki announced at Friday’s Deep 60 Impact Impact his intention to retire at the Dec. 22 Deep Haleo Impact at Korakuen Hall.
Despite leaving active competition, Misaki promised to continue being involved in the sport, though he did not specify in what capacity.
