Bonnar, Herman test positive for banned substances at UFC 153

Post-fight drug tests from UFC 153 have revealed that fighters Stephan Bonnar and Dave Herman each tested positive for banned substances. UFC officials tested all 24 fighters who competed at the event.

Bonnar tested positive for Drostanolone, an anabolic steroid, while Herman’s screen was flagged for marijuana metabolites. Suspensions have yet to be announced, although Bonnar recently announced his retirement from competition.

UFC 153 took place Oct. 13 at Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena. Anderson Silva defeated Bonnar in the evening’s headliner while Herman was submitted by Antonio Rodrgio Nogueira in the co-main event.

World Series of Fighting 1 Weigh-in Results

Two competitors from the inaugural World Series of Fighting card failed to make weight on their first attempt as light heavyweight Travis Bartlett and middleweight Dustin Jacoby both came in heavy.

The Nov. 3 main card airs live on NBC Sports Network at 10:30 p.m. ET, with the undercard airing living on Sherdog.com at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Guillard and Varner tabbed for TUF 16 Finale

Lightweights Melvin Guillard and former WEC champion Jamie Varner are set to collide on Dec. 15 at the TUF 16 Finale in Las Vegas.

Both fighters are coming off losses, although each took home “Fight of the Night” honors. Guillard was submitted by former teammate Donald Cerrone at UFC 150, while Varner was also forced to tap against Joe Lauzon at UFC on Fox 4.

Rothwell vs. Gonzaga targeted for Jan. 19 in Brazil

Heavyweights Ben Rothwell and Gabriel Gonzaga are expected to meet at the yet to be announced Jan. 19 UFC event in Brazil.

The host city for the event is still to be determined, as is whether the event will be broadcast on FX or Fuel TV.

Lentz, Nunes also on deck for Jan. 19

Featherweights Nik Lentz and Diego Nunes will look to build on recent wins when they lock horns in Nunes’ native Brazil on Jan. 19.

Lentz defeated Eiji Mitsuoka in his 145-pound debut at UFC 150 in Auguest, while Nunes outworked fellow WEC vet Bart Palaszewski in early October.

Eduardo out, Roop in against Alcantara for Brazil event

The Jan. 19 card may not be officially announced, but a bantamweight matchup has already gone through a change.

A previously reported bout between Brazilians Johnny Eduardo and Yuri Alcantara will now feature George Roop’s return to 135 pounds to face Alcantara.

Ho Kang out, Tezuka meets Caceres at UFC on Fuel TV 6

Kyung Ho Kang has suffered a foot injury and has been forced out of a UFC on Fuel TV 6 matchup with fellow bantamweight Alex Caceres.

Motonobu Tezuka will step in for Ho Kang and make his promotional debut on the Nov. 10 card which takes places from the The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel in Macau, a special administrative district of China.

Score Fighting Series 7 adds more bouts to Nov. 23 card

The SFS 7 card has added five additional main card bouts.

In addition to a previously announced welterweight headliner between Forrest Petz and Jordan Mein, the Nov. 23 event will also see the unbeaten Josh Hill collide with former WEC talent Rafael Rebello, Ryan Healy squares off with Jesse Ronson, Will Romero meets Tristan Johnson, once-beaten Alex Ricci takes on Kevin Morin and Ryan Dickson clashes with Brandt Dewsbury.

The six-fight main card takes place at the Hamilton Place Theatre in Hamilton, Ontario and will air on The Score in Canada and AXS TV in the United States.

Cage Warriors 50 adds featherweight contest

Robert Whiteford and Chris Fishgold have been tabbed to meet when Cage Warriors heads to Scotland for the first time on Dec. 8.

Both fighters will make their promotional debuts at the event which takes place at Kelvin Hall in Glasgow.

Cage Warriors 50 also features former UFC competitor Aaron Wilkinson, as well as Scottish-based Paul McVeigh and Graham Turner.
