This week’s episode began with a recap of the last fight, as Team UK’s Brendan Loughnane defeated Team Australia’s Patrick Iodice to earn a spot in the semifinals. It was also pointed out that Manuel Rodriguez left the house due to injury and his replacement James Vainikolo has taken his spot.

The next welterweight bout was immediately announced, as the final two contestants that are left in the division Xavier Lucas of Team Australia and Brad Scott of Team UK are set to fight next.

Also announced was that James Vainikolo would have to fight to make it into the semifinals, rather than simply taking Rodriguez’s spot. This gives a British welterweight another chance to advance in the competition, but Coach George Sotiropolous will get to decide who fights Vainikolo. Vainikolo is worried about his weight, as he is currently 20 pounds over the welterweight cutoff.

Most of the episode focused on in-house pranks and tension from things written in Brad Scott’s diary. Not much training was shown.

At the weigh-ins, both Scott and Lucas weighed in at 170.5 pounds. The fight was set and both fighters looked ready to do war.

Before the fights, UFC fighter James Te Huna visited the Australia team’s locker room to give Xavier words of encouragement. The guys were really excited he came to visit.

Brad Scott vs. Xavier Lucas

The first round saw both men feeling each other out for a lengthy amount of time. In the middle of the round, Lucas staggered Scott and rushed in on him. Scott grabbed Lucas in the clinch and grinded him against the fence for most of the round. Not much happened until late in the round when Scott secured a takedown and held him down until the bell rang.

The second round had a similar feeling out process. As they started getting more comfortable striking, Scott landed an accidental low blow on Lucas. Time was called and Lucas recovered.

After some more exchanges, Lucas was able to grab a takedown. From top position, he did not do much, so the referee stood them up. After some more striking, Scott dropped Lucas with a punch and pounced. He got Lucas’ back and dropped big ground and pound.  After a failed attempt at a rear-naked choke, he mounted Lucas and dropped more bombs. He ended the round riding Lucas’ back, earning him the second round.

Official Result: Brad Scott def. Xavier Lucas via unanimous decision

With the win, Scott joins Aussies Ben Alloway and Robert Whittaker in the semifinals, with James Vainikolo set to fight the last quarterfinal against a Brit to be determined. The lightweights currently advanced in the competition are Brendan Loughnane, Norman Parke and Colin Fletcher. Next week, the final lightweights are set to square off, as Team UK’s Mike Wilkinson takes on Team Australia’s Grant Blackler.
