Stephan Bonnar and Dave Herman both failed drug tests following UFC 153. Bonnar tested positive for Drostanolone while Herman tested positive for marijuana. Both men have received their punishments handed out by the UFC.

Bonnar will be suspended for a year while Herman received a lesser punishment but is being ordered to undergo treatment. These punishments likely won’t mean much as Bonnar is expected to return to retirement and Herman is likely to be released after losing three-straight bouts.

[box_Dark]Georgia Athletic Commission Approves Remaining MMA Bouts in 2012, Unsure of 2013 [/divider]

The Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission has decided to conditionally approve the remaining boxing and mixed martial arts events submitted to the state for 2012.

Andy Foster will become the executive director of the California State Athletic Commissioner after serving as the same position in Georgia wants to make sure local fighters are still able to earn an income during the transitional period.

An interesting stipulation as part of this extension of MMA in Georgia is that if a fighter is forced off a card due to injury, no replacement fighter will be found.

The situation for MMA and Georgia will likely become clearer following the December meetings.
