UFC aims for Anaheim for UFC 157

On Feb. 23, the UFC aims to take their talents back to Anaheim for a yet-to-be-announced event, likely UFC 157. Once announced, the event will come just three weeks after UFC 156 in Las Vegas. The organization will announce a bout lineup, complete with a headliner and co-headliner, as the weeks progress.

Martinez-Shamhalaev set for Bellator 83; Bellator 84 to host lightweight tourney final, M’Pumbu-Vegh title tilt

This Friday, Rich Clementi will fight Marcin Held, while Ricardo Tirloni fights Dave Jensen. Though originally expecting to compete at Bellator 83, a featherweight tourney final between Rad Martinez and Shahbulat Shamhalaev will take place at the event, which returns to Caesar’s in Atlantic City, NJ. The winners of Clementi vs. Held and Tirloni-Jansen will compete in this season’s final at Bellator 84, which returns to the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind.

Additionally, Christian M’Pumbu looks for the first successful defense of his belt against Attila Vegh. Both men fought Travis Wiuff recently, with M’Pumbu dropping a unanimous decision to Wiuff in October of last year, while Vegh won the most recent light-heavyweight “Summer Series” tournament by way of a TKO stoppage over Wiuff.

Vale Tudo Japan 2012 includes Prater–Hironaka, Tokoro-Sato

After two decision losses, Carlo Prater returns to action, this time for a Christmas Eve tilt in Tokyo for the Vale Tudo Japan promotion. This time out, Prater combats Master Japan veteran Kuniyoshi Hironaka, who rides a 4-0 win streak. Additionally, grappling phenoms Rumina Sato and Hideo Tokoro look to end respective two-fight skids on the Christmas Eve card.

921,000 viewers watch TUF 16 following Week Eight “Snake Bite”

Call this past Friday’s episode “After ‘The Snake Bite’ Happened”, if you wish, but the ratings remained respectably high for Week Nine. In fact, 921,000 viewers watched everything from James Chaney’s apology for biting Jon Manley last week, to Team Carwin’s Mike Ricci outwrestling Team Nelson’s Dom Waters en route to a unanimous decision. With Waters eliminated, Ricci prepares to face fellow Canadian welterweight Michael Hill in the quarterfinals.
