Ronda Rousey officially signs with the UFC

After much speculation, the first woman has signed with the UFC.

Women’s Strikeforce champion Ronda Rousey has officially signed with the UFC, according the UFC president Dana White himself. White was a guest on The Jim Rome Show on Friday, and made the announcement to the listeners.

It is expected that Rousey will become the champion automatically, with a list of other names to challenge her in 2013.

Gilbert Melendez does not recover and cancels new fight in Strikeforce

Gilbert Melendez was expected to fight Pat Healy this fall for the Strikeforce lightweight title, but Melendez was forced out due to injury. The two were them matched up again in last Strikeforce event, but once again, the fight has been cancelled.

Nothing has been said on the result of the cancellation yet.

Due to the injury, Melendez will never compete inside the Strikeforce cage again, as the promotion will be done following its January card.

Jon Fitch vs. Demian Maia added to February’s UFC 156 event

February’s UFC 156 event continues to grow, as a big welterweight clash has been added.

Jon Fitch will take on Demian Maia on Feb. 2 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, more than likely on the main card.

Fitch is coming off an impressive win over Erick Silva at UFC 153, while Maia defeated Rick Story on the same night.

James Krause to fight Joe Jordan at RFA 5

After fighting just two weeks ago, James Krause has another opponent in his sights.

Krause posted on his Twitter account, “Fighting Joe Jordan (49-13) in 2 weeks as the co-main event on RFA 5, live on AXS TV.”

Resurrection Fighting Alliance 5 takes place on Friday, Nov. 30 from the Viaero Events Center in Kearney, Neb. The main event features a 145-pound title fight between Jordan Rinaldi and Jared Downing.

Reis vs. Roddy set for Cage Warriors 50 on Dec. 8

On Dec. 8, Cage Warriors will make its first ever trip to Scotland’s Kelvin Hall to host the 50th event of the promotion.

Taking place on the main card will be Wilson Reis, a Brazilian Bellator veteran, taking on fellow bantamweight Owen Roddy, who will make his debut with the Cage Warriors.

More bouts are still expected to be announced.
